After coming back from an outing with a friend, a guy comes home and sits at the porch with a girl. Like him, she had also just returned from an outing.
“Did you have fun?” the guy asked.
The girl smiled and nodded.
“We’re lucky to have such great friends,” said the guy, who smiled as well.
“Hey,” the girl started. “I was thinking something very bad today, but I only thought of it for a second.”
“What was it?” The guy looked at her curiously.
The girl looked away as she spoke. “I was thinking that when you leave, I would follow you.”
The guy looked visibly irritated. “You’re right; you were thinking of a bad thing. You must never think of it again.”
“I know. Like I said, I only thought of it for a second,” she quickly said.
“When I leave, you have to comfort people in my place. Not only that, you must let the people around you comfort you. We’ll surely meet again one day,” he said.
“I know but ...”
“Hmm?”
“But what if it takes too long?” the girl asked him.
The guy thought for a moment. “In that case, I’ll use my clout in Heaven to get God to bring you to me. But remember, I probably won’t have much clout there, just like I don’t have much clout here,” he said, smiling at her.

The dialogue is from a Korean drama I stumbled upon when surfing the channels a few weeks ago. I’ve never seen the drama and just watching this scene made me teary-eyed (I’m such a sucker!). Anyways, from the scene, I assume that the guy has a terminal disease and only a few months left to live. What was really poignant about the scene, to me, was the part the guy said he had “no clout”. Let’s just assume that he’s not merely being humble and that he really has no clout. I find it cute that despite him having no clout, he would do all he can to make the girl happy. In love, it doesn’t matter whether you have clout or not, it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or not, it doesn’t matter if you have a high position or not. Love just is :)
